The Paris Haute Couture SS15 show did not fail to impress this year. January 26th through the 29th, top of the line designers showcased in the fashion capital of the world. All pictures below are complimentary of Paris Fashion Week.
Many people get confused about the difference between ready-to-wear and couture, so if you're asking questions, you're not alone. It's a simple distinction. Ready-to-wear clothes are mass produced in regular sizes, and are "ready to wear" without alterations. Couture clothing is often hand-sewn and specially fitted to one specific client or model. Couture is oftentimes a little more over the top than ready-to-wear clothes; more extravagant.
I've chosen some of my favorite looks from the Paris Haute Couture SS15 show and divided the designers into categories. These categories were the themes that seemed to dominate the runway.

elevated elegance
Here are some of my favorite looks from Tony Ward, Ralph n Russo, and Stephane Rolland. These designers did an excellent job of channeling the princess in all of us. As the models came down the runway, each of the pieces told a story. Another thing I liked about these three lines is that they were all diverse while still being cohesive. There was a fit, style and color for nearly any girl's taste preferences.
looks like ready-to-wear
Valentino, Christian Dior, and Yanina had some great simple silhouettes. I could see versions of these outfits on boutique racks in New York or Chicago. Another attribute that reminds me of ready-to-wear is that these looks are all looks that normal women would want to wear. And for the most part, they're universally flattering! (Seriously, can I get that Dior dress in a size 10?)
texture frenzy
If you've opened a fashion magazine, watched runway, stepped in a mall, or have had any exposure to fashion whatsoever in the past year, you've noticed that textures are on the rise. Velvet, fur, feathers, lace, cutouts, satin, and endless textures are all making headway, especially this upcoming season. Serkan Cura, Giorgio Armani, and Versace all take the trend and elevate it to their signature versions of couture.
